Confession: I probably haven’t read half as much of the canon of American literature as I should have. Nonetheless, I feel perfectly safe in saying that Jordan Baker in The Great Gatsby just about takes the cake when it comes to my favorite (fictitious) blue-blooded females from the good ol’ U.S. of A. “Time for this good girl to go to bed” and “A bad driver is only safe until she meets another bad driver” and…and well, how can you not fall head over heels for someone described as having “shoulders like a young cadet” and a “wan, charming, discontented face” and as “someone who had seemed to have mastered a certain hardy skepticism.”
And I’m quite sure that if Jordan had stopped with the lying (and that delightful, droll aforementioned skepticism) and had given it a go with Nick, she would have gotten hitched in this gorgeous, jaunty and luxe number from the Spring 2009 Ralph Lauren Collection.
Athletic yet refined, it’s the perfect dress for good girls who are actually bad and vice versa. (Also, who wouldn’t want to wear a silk turban in lieu of a stuffy, fussy veil? No, seriously.)
